Masurao (Emperor Kakumei) Empty Masurao (Emperor Kakumei)

Post by Masurao Sat Feb 20, 2010 2:57 am

Name: Nakayama Masurao

Age: 17

Race: Elf (Sorta. Will explain below.)

Gender: Male

Homeland: Eremaki

Class: Samurai

SubClass: Summoner

Strengths: As far as stats, good magic power and strength. Excellent hearing.

Weaknesses: Sonic attacks are an issue, as is physical defense, to a MUCh lesser extent.

Battle Style: Variable. Close range w/ swords & katana, mid range w/ yori, naginata, and kanabo, and long range w/ various firearms.

Appearance: Amazingly, Masurao very much resembles his real-life counterpart, Emperor Mutsuhito. Standing just over six feet even, his form is something of a paradox. Without a doubt, he's built like a warrior, having trained as a samurai since a young age. Of course, he has the polished air about him on would expect of royalty. Long, thick, dark hair streams down to the middle of his back, when not put up in some style or another. Although he is gentle in behavior, he looks the part of a titan among men.

Personality: Normally, Masurao is a kind, gentle individual. A "warrior poet" if there ever was one. It's almost sure suicide, however, to betray his trust, or, far, FAR WORSE, hurt someone he cares for. In those situations, his rage is almost impossible to placate. Other than this, he has very few things which trigger his anger.

History:

to truly understand Masurao, one must go back into the history of ancient Eremaki. In those times, the impossibly long-lived Emperor Yamato was said to be the world's foremost authority on magic. ...Of course, in those ancient days, there was no reason to believe the world extended beyond Eremaki's shores. this magical prowess lent Yamato to various anomalies, prophetic dreams among them. One such dream foretold of a great stone descending from the heavens, to bless the world with Magic, and bring peoples from beyond the stars. Despite his (already seemingly impossible) age, Yamato made a personal appearance at the very place he predicted they'd land. It was here that the Crystalborn Races made First Contact. It was the beginning of the Yamato Dynasty, the centuries old bloodline which now rules over Eremaki. Yamato fell for a lovely young elven maiden, who he quickly took as his bride. these powerful bloodlines becoming as one, in the early years of the Yamato dynasty, created a new sub-type of elf. having a human apparance, but normal elven attributes, this little-known offshoot, almost exclusive to Eremaki, are called "hoshi Warabe". (Lit. "Star Child")

Masurao is the last child of the Edo Period in Eremaki. Born in the age of the "breaking of the chains", he was just an infant when, after nearly 200 years of incredibly restricted access to the outside world, a Commodore from the far west nation of Glaisne essentially robbed Eremaki of its sovereignty. the current ruling power, the Shogunate, readily rolled over for the outsiders, in fear of their technology. Eremaki's people were incensed, and, seeking change, rallied behind Masurao's father, the Emperor Seigi. Seeing the people's discontent, he began to challenge the decisions of the Shoguns. Eremaki had been restricted in who it interacted with; this sudden influx of new foreign powers strongarming his country into submission infuriated him. Between his rage, and the Shogunate including Seigi in their decisions (because nobody knew what they were doing when it came to foreigners), it didn't take much to convince him of the sheer incompetence of the Shogunate.

From then on, young Masurao watching it unfold, Seigi began putting himself in a position of power, something the children of the Yamato dynasty hadn't done in centuries. he would outright deny any and all treaties presented to him, and would interfere with new Shoguns every chance he could. Eventually, in a fit of rage, stemming from externally-imposed inaction, he made a national decree: By the end of the year (7 years prior to now), all foreigners were to be expelled from Eremaki, by any means necessary. the Shogunate ignored this, but the Emperor's people did not. Nearly the entire nation, from the wandering Samurai, to even the Feudal Lords themselves, rose up in anger and violence against the "invaders". And, of course, Glaisne responded with force.

Perhaps the most famous example occurred in the Suishoukaigan Prefecture. One of the Lord's Samurai struck down a wealthy trader, for which Glaisne demanded a penalty in the form of cash. As expected, the Shogunate sent a large sum of money to the Lord. In protest, the Lord kept the money, and fired upon the naval vessels coming to collect. In response, the group of 3 ships bombarded and destroyed the coastal batteries, sacked the city, gunned down many of the Lord's Samurai, and sent pieces of the Lord's body to all the other feudal lords. It was, at this point, Masurao realized force wouldn't dissuade these people. Fear dwelt in his heart for Eremaki, for he knew his father would not listen until it was too late.

Fate would grant Masurao a mixed blessing; 3 years prior to now, Seigi fell ill with one of the few illnesses the Star Children were susceptible to: Smallpox. Although watching his father die was heartbreaking, Masurao, now called Emperor Kakumei, had to focus; the Shogunate was incredibly weak. With many of the Feudal Lords behind him, Emperor Kakumei made a bold declaration to Eremaki and the world: the Yamato Dynasty would take back power, and, in a swift war with the Shogunate, he did just that.

Just months after, Eremaki played host to the Great Keeper. Emperor Kakumei, under his true name, and a muted appearance, met a charming young woman the day he was to meet the Great Keeper. Immediately, he felt drawn to this woman, Lei'Ahree. Imagine his surprise to learn she was the Great Keeper!! Fate wasn't done with them yet, however. Alexander cried out at the betrayal of the Keeper of Glaisne. In a fit of blind rage, Masurao set sail for Astraea, and personally saw to the deaths of the traitorous Mages of Glaisne, as well as its Keeper.

Upon his return, he began several radical reforms, the modernization and militarization of Eremaki chief among them. Many samurai, appalled by the Emperor's decision to require commoners to serve in the military, a mass uprising of samurai occurred, dividing Eremaki in two. In order to quell this rebellion, using stolen Glaisne technology, the newly-formed and newly-outfitted Imperial Army overshadowed the samurai in both firepower and manpower. Over the course of the year, the Imperial Army drove the samurai back. Current events begin with the usurper-lord of the Samurai being brought to the Imperial Palace...

So basically a jack-of-all-trades in abilities . . .

Excellent history . . .

I need more description on Strengths and Weaknesses, though.

Other than that, looks okay.
