Gareth Numitor Empty Gareth Numitor

Post by Gareth Numitor Fri Nov 12, 2010 6:08 pm

Name: Gareth Numitor

Age: 37 (Actual. Appearance may be slightly older)

Race: Dwemer/Auran

Gender: Male

Homeland: Raonaid

Class: Warrior

SubClass: Ranger

Elemental Affinities:
Primary: Earth
Secondary: Water
Tertiary: Gravity

Strengths: Due to his history, if he finds out who destroyed his village and murdered his wife, he will be double physical strength against that opponent/group (may extend to race/local if it escalates). Also is very protective of his son, Diarmad, and experiences a strength increase when the son is present (protection). All in all, his farming history lends to his mighty strength, proving him to be a variably mighty force to be reckoned with. He did have one vice that would take him away from farming occasionally: Sparring with warriors. As such, he's become familiar with various weapons, but his major strong suite is hand to hand combat, especially wrestling and grappling.

Weaknesses: Because of the attack on his town and his wife's death, he is overly protective of Diarmad, which could be used as an Achilles heel. The two are inseparable, unless a save haven has been found prior to a known danger (such as going into battle). Though he is mighty in strength, his stamina is relatively low, so if his strength is used for an extended period of time, it fades to a moderate level. As his life had been complete with his family and farm, he has never perused much in the way of magic and therefore has little more than what he used for farming.

Battle Style: He seems to have two modes: Blitz and defense of his son. When his son is present, he will do whatever it takes to ensure his son is safe, but in battle with his son safely hidden away he almost turns berserker, fiercely protecting other party members first, then carrying the onslaught through the enemy until there is no longer a threat. As he feels much self loathing from the failure to protect his wife (and to a lesser degree, his home town), he is often careless or reckless with his own safety to a degree, unless he realizes that it will put his fellows or son at risk

Appearance: His appearance is generally classic Dwemer, however his mother's Auran shows through here and there, adding to his height, and muting the red hair and green eyes of his father. Stocky, even for his height, he has the effect of an intimidating teddy-bear. He's got a big ol' thick red and brown streaked beard.
He wears a thick, fur lined leather vest to protect against the cold and the hard knocks of daily life, and baggy, calf length shorts, pleated with strips of thick leather. Dark, heavy, knee high boots protect his lower legs. He wears two shirts under his vest, a fairly plain white undershirt and what could only be described as a thick flannel overshirt.

Personality: Generally an easy-going fellow, he was fairly involved with his home town, and had formed quite a bond with his neighbors. When an unknown assailant attacked and killed everyone while he was away hunting with his son, the broken bond left a void in his life that he has been constantly trying to fill. When he finds someone that he learns to trust, he generally tends to bond with them and will defend them as though they were family. He is rarely found without a smile, but his eyes show the sorrow and loss he carries with him.

History: Gareth's father's family farmed the same plot of land for generations, and was known as a cornerstone of the community that had developed over the ages. The farm had been passed down from father to eldest son for all those years, so when Gareth's father, who was the younger of two brothers, came of age he struck out to seek his fortune elsewhere in nearby Vardit. He married (name) there and brought her back to meet the family back home. When he arrived, he found that his brother had been killed during the harvest, and his father asked him to stay and carry on the family farm.
He was not pleased at first, but stayed while Gareth was born and grew up. When Gareth was old enough to manage the farm on his own, his father and mother left to pick up where they had left off years ago, and have not been heard from since.
Gareth felt quite at home farming, though, and was quite content to form a family on his ancestral farm, where he planned to grow old with his children and wife. His first born began to take an interest in hunting small critters with a sling, so when he was able to draw a bow, father and son went out to hunt.
When they came back, though, they found their world turned upside down. All that remained of their town and home was cold ashes and charred stones. The land was barren, and little remained of the inhabitants to prove they had indeed died defending themselves.
Gareth and his son set out to find a new home to call their own... but secretly, deep down, Gareth is seeking the ones responsible for that horrendous deed.
One thing that concerns him greatly: his son's nightmares. Ever since they arrived home and witnessed that devastation, his son's dreams have gone from ones that would fill the night with light hearted laughter to nightmares that cause him to awake screaming... the nights he wakes up from them...
Gareth is looking for someone who can discern what can put his child's mind at ease and let him sleep soundly

Pictures: (Working on it. It's hard to find a camera OR a cheap artist in the unsettled Highlands!)

Alright, this looks good.

Pics are optional. So, just finish out the appearance, and, we're good.

Alright, updated the appearance. The picture referance is intended to be humorous, but maybe someday I'll get it done.
